5-14: S2 Short Story

Possible Themes

Maybe, like George, your own experiences have taught you some important lessons in life

That you have misjudged someone
Not to lend your precious things
Not to borrow / steal
Lying can land you in more trouble
Losing your temper is not good for you or others
Think before you do something – don’t be hasty
Don’t let peer pressure cause you to go against your own better judgement
To think twice before promising to do something
Not to blab about something someone told you in confidence
How difficult – yet important – it can be to tell the truth
How hard it is to forgive someone who lets you down
How gossip can really hurt someone
That parents are not as perfect as you thought they were when you were younger
That it’s important to be tolerant / generous/ trustworthy/
Don’t take things or people for granted
Don’t take advantage of things or people
Don’t hit someone when they’re down
A problem shared is a problem halved
Don’t cut your nose off to spite your face
There’s no ‘I’ in team
